Crisis Response News

March 27, 2020

Joshua 1:9 says: “I repeat, be strong and brave! Don’t be afraid and don’t panic, for I, the LORD your God, am with you in all you do.” (Joshua 1:9, NET)  This is still true today in the uncertain times we are facing.

At the Diaconate meeting on Sunday afternoon (03/15/2020) our response as a church to the current Covid-19 Pandemic was discussed.  I want to assure you that your church leaders are taking the safety of all who worship here very seriously.  That is why we are suspending all face-to-face meetings of the church until further notice.  That includes Sunday School, worship services, all Bible studies, and Wednesday evening programming.

Our church’s sermons are placed online shortly after each service concludes.  You can access them at our church’s web site: www.firstbaptistpaola.com.   I will try to place a new message there each week.  Initially they will be audio only, but I am seeking to learn how to place video on our web site as well.  One is never too old to learn something new. While you are at the website, please subscribe to our email and text alerts to receive up-to-date information.

On Wednesday, March 25 Miami County issued a stay at home order. To comply with that order there will be no church office hours until the order is lifted. We will be monitoring the answering machine, e-mail and regular mail.

As people of faith, and as a church family, we are called to worship together.  For many of us Sunday morning is the highlight of our week.  This decision was not made lightly, but through prayer and consultation with others we have decided that this is the right decision to keep one another healthy and safe.  While we are separated by location – please remember that we are one in Christ and as we worship in our own spaces let us remember one another and pray for the body of Christ we are privileged to be a part of.

Even though we may be worshiping in separate locations, the church financial needs continue.  Please remember to send in your tithes and offerings as you are able.

If you or another member of the church has a need or a prayer request, please contact me on my cell phone (913-285-2694).  Our care for one another is not canceled!

God is the God who heals and protects.  Let us continue in our trust in Him as we face these times together.  Be safe and healthy.

Be blessed and be a blessing,

Rev. Carl L. Olson
